CHELMSFORD — State Representative James Arciero recently hosted his annual Chelmsford Ice Cream Social at the Chelmsford Senior Center, joining Director of Human Services Debi Siriani, State Representative Vanna Howard, Chelmsford Select Board members Pat Wojtas and Virginia Crocker-Timmins and members of the Chelmsford Council of Aging in a celebration of local senior citizens.
In addition, the $25,000 money check that was delivered, which was secured during the Fiscal Year 2023 State Budget, will go towards the purchase of food for the Senior Center’s Meal on Wheels program, a nationally-led program which delivers meals and wellness checks for homebound seniors.
The event included Arciero and Howard’s respective staffs serving vanilla and chocolate ice cream, with cherry, sprinkle, caramel and Oreo toppings, from Sully’s Ice Cream to about 75 senior citizens.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to host this special event and recognize Chelmsford’s senior citizens alongside my colleagues and municipal officials in Chelmsford,” Rep. Arciero said. “Senior citizens are active members of our community, and it is vital to hear their thoughts and concerns and make sure their needs are met. I want to thank Deb Siriani for this auspicious event and Rep. Howard for joining me.”
“I want to thank Rep. Arciero for securing the funding for the Meals on Wheels Program for our seniors, a critical funding source that helps our seniors lead active, healthy live, which my House colleagues and I were pleased to vote in support,” Representative Howard said. “Thank you Rep. Arciero for including me and the Chelmsford Senior Center for your warm welcome.”
“Everyone knows that food and gas prices have gone up, but when you are purchasing items for a large program, those prices can really add up fast,” Siriani said. “The $25K of support will help us this year to provide nutritious, high-quality meals to homebound seniors and to the seniors who visit our Senior Center. We are very thankful to Jim Arciero and the Chelmsford Delegation for the support.
